Our leader of the week is sharing his poster!
We spent some time reflecting on our learning for the month of February.
We are working on providing many details for our topic!
We also wrote a reflection for our favorite activity so far this school year.

We read a story called Lucy and the Bully.
We are becoming experts at going back in the text to find the evidence and restating the question in our complete sentence answer.
We have been learning how to make observations on characters throughout a story because we know that characters' emotions can change from different events.
Today we took our learning to a new level by comparing Lucy and Tommy. At different parts of the story, we observed what the characters were feeling and why they were feeling that way.
During Writer's Workshop, we continued working on our series books.
It is amazing to see how we are growing as writers.
Our confidence is building as we try new strategies like including dialogue, making our characters face a problem and solve the problem, and making our characters come to life by making them move and explore!
Is it a polygon?
We know that polygons are closed shapes with straight edges.
We had to look at pictures to determine if the shape was a polygon or not.
We also had to provide a reason why or why it was not a polygon.
Way to go, Cacioppo Crew!
While we were taking a break from our assembly practice, Mrs. Johnson's class came to visit.
We worked on ST Math with our friends!
We also taught Mrs. Johnson's class how to use Scratch Jr.
I think they liked it!
We did Creative Book Reviews!
After reading a book in class (not a chapter book), students could get creative to share what they read.
If it was a fiction story, they included what happened at the beginning, middle, end, and their favorite part. If it was a non-fiction text, they shared three facts and their favorite part of the book.
It was amazing to see what the students did for their creative review!
Kindness is...
Each student at Kipling finished the sentence on a kindness quilt piece.
We took all of the pieces to make two giant quilts down by the MPR and Music room.
We enjoyed looking at the beautiful illustrations and reading about what kindness means to many others here at our school!
Our Leadership Winners for the month of March!
Random Acts of Kindness:
We were on a mission to spread words of cheer to other students and staff here at Kipling.
We wrote special messages on post-it notes and delivered them to lockers and doors around school.
Leprechaun Challenge:
Mrs. Johnson's class came back for another coding challenge.
On Scratch Jr., each student designed his/her own leprechauns and attempted to get the leprechaun to reach the pot of gold by coding. Once the leprechaun made it to the pot of gold, it had to do a dance.
The final challenge was to get your leprechaun to cheer when it made it to the gold!
Unfortunately, we cannot upload our awesome work from Scratch Jr. onto Seesaw so make sure to ask your child to show you his/her creation on the Scratch Jr. app!
Our Guest Reader came in to read to the class!
We became apprentices for Paul Klee.
Students had to make observations on two-dimensional shapes in art.
We looked at Mountain Village, 1934, and Castle and Sun, 1928.
The class couldn't believe that this artwork was THAT old!
We made a chart and then recorded our observations on Seesaw!
